About Jan:
Jan is the middle child of five. Born in Southern California, near Pasadena, she was raised in a loving home, where values and education were stressed. She has several college degrees, including a Master’s degree from UCLA. She works for a non-profit company that researches technology for the medical field. When the baby comes Jan will be able to spend time working from home.
Jan is also a professionally trained chef. In the past she has been paid to make birthday and wedding cakes but she mostly uses her cooking skills for friends and family. Every year she creates a themed feast for our Academy Awards party. We could tell you how good the food is, but all we will say is that in eight years, our party grew from 6 or 7 of our closest friends to over 40 people! She also enjoys crafts and is an avid scrapbooker. Jan hand-makes beautiful holiday cards, and her Academy Awards party invitation is almost as elaborate and popular as the food she makes for it. She has also made keepsake scrapbooks for her nieces and nephews that are a big hit with the whole family.
George says:
I’ve never met anyone who has a love of learning that equals Jan’s. She particularly likes to uncover obscure details about things, and is willing and able to share these “fascinating facts” at a moments notice. She loves to read, and while she’ll read almost anything, her favorite genres are modern fiction and books about the history and science of food.
But don’t let my bragging about my wife’s brain fool you into thinking she’s some kind of egghead! She is actually very down to earth. In fact, what first attracted me to her was her kindness. She has a gentle and nurturing soul, which draws you to her. You can see it in her eyes, a warmth that radiates from her. I know she will be an excellent mom.
